13th Annual API Africa Property Investment Summit

In September, 2022, Aimée Girdwood served as a panelist for ‘Striving for net zero: the impact of not making it a priority’ along with Thomas Fuller, Deelan Govender, Zanele Mavuso Mbatha, Chilufya Lombe. Net zero’s relevance to the real estate sector and why complacency is a risk was a chief topic at the Summit.

The panel was an opportunity for Aimée to speak about the importance of businesses and assets that are innovative and resilient as well as why the impact of the built environment is so relevant to the global warming discussion. She spoke about the impact of climate change on Africa and the consequences for not making it a priority. With a changing legal and regulatory environment as well as the risk of stranded assets and business interruption, net zero should be top of mind for real estate professionals.
